Porcelain Veneers Arcadia CA
When patients come to us wanting to improve the appearance of their smiles, we get excited because we know how having a great smile can give you added confidence in your appearance and allow you to shine.
At Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, we offer a wide variety of cosmetic dentistry procedures to address nearly every cosmetic concern our patients may have. One of the most dramatic ways to improve your smile’s appearance is with porcelain dental veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Veneers are durable, thin, shell-like covers that fit on the front of your natural teeth. They improve the look of your smile by covering and correcting imperfections. Since only your front teeth are visible when you smile, we often recommend between two and eight veneers across your top arch. Dental veneers can correct flaws such as:
- Worn teeth
- Stained teeth
- Chips and imperfections
- Non-uniform teeth
Because veneers are thin and translucent, they look completely natural. When designing your dream smile, we will discuss shades of your teeth and whether you could benefit from professional teeth whitening before we begin. Veneers will not whiten like your natural teeth, so it is important to start with your permanent shade in mind.
How Does the Procedure Work?
Once we design your dream smile, we will need to prepare your teeth to adhere to your veneers permanently by polishing the surface. We attach them using a permanent dental adhesive. Because we do remove some of the enamel on your permanent teeth, your veneers are a lifelong commitment.
Once we attach your veneers, we will make any final adjustments to ensure an exact fit that is both comfortable and functional.
Caring for Your Dental Veneers
Porcelain veneers, while strong, do require some special care. Be sure not to bite into anything you should not be eating. Avoid using your teeth as tools to open packages or cut tape. You can damage your veneers and they may need replacement.
As with all dentistry, keeping your teeth and gums healthy is essential to the longevity of your new smile. We will examine your veneers at each dental appointment, making sure they are stable and that your teeth are free of decay.
If you have a nocturnal clenching or teeth grinding habit, you may benefit from wearing a nightguard to protect your investment. A nightguard provides a barrier between your upper and lower teeth and keeps you from breaking your veneers while you sleep.
With the proper care, maintenance, and preventive treatments, your veneers can give you many years of confident smiles.
